Hi.

It could also be read as "called as root" or "called as document
element". There are many systems that use "root" as "the topmost element
in the group/tree/list"

BTW the official term is "document element", just in case
someone tries to look up "root element" in the spec. 

Actually, XML 1.0 says "there is one element called the root or document
element...". I've never been sure whether this was intended to be read
as "the root element or document element".
