Spaces in Tag Name

Hi
 i am new to XMl -XSL world

the quetion is CAN we have a space in the Tag Name for example like

<Root>
  <Child 1> 12</Child 1>
  <Child 2> 12212</Child 2>
</Root>

note there is a space between word child and digit

is it possible to have a space.

IF we can how to read that XML file- i mean to load that XML file
