It works fine:
A small modification
<xsl:variable name="first">
<xsl:value-of select="count(*)"/>
</xsl:variable>
<xsl:variable name="second">
<xsl:value-of select="count(*/*)"/>
</xsl:variable>
<xsl:variable name="rowcounts">
<xsl:value-of select="$second div $first"/>
</xsl:variable>
I have to replace the count(*/*) with $rowcounts.
Thanks Marcus,
sundar

Does it solve your problem if you replace the "com" template with the
following (it solves the problem you pointed out anyway...)? It assumes that
the number of number-elements is the same in each group of elements.
/Marcus
<xsl:template match="com">
<table>
<xsl:call-template name="verticalTable">
<xsl:with-param name="rowIndex" select="1"/>
<xsl:with-param name="endIndex" select="count(*/*)"/>
</xsl:call-template>
</table>
</xsl:template>
