If my XSLT application, running without supervision (eg on the server),
gets fed a document which references a non-existent file, then my
application must be able to deal with that; It is unacceptable to abort the
whole transformation. Since I'm not aware of any facilities to test for the
existence of files (validity of paths/URIs), I need a way to recover from
the currently unfortunately fatal error raised >after a failed
unparsed-text().
in Apache's cocoon, there's a resource-exists action which allows you to
check the existence of a file.
