Assuming you're using IE, are you aware of Microsoft's
"Internet Explorer Tools for Validating XML and Viewing XSLT Output"

...

By the way I wouldn't consider a standalone XSL processor to be
server-side facilities... you can download free ones and run them
on your own machine. I find it invaluable for testing and debugging
during development.

Thanks for these suggestions Lars. I'm really looking to
deliver the html source (and the rendered page) rather than
use it for development and debugging purposes. It's likely
my users will be running MSIE, but it wouldn't be appropriate
to ask them to download XSL stuff, they don't know or care
about XSL.

In my response to Jim Fuller's post (in which I forgot to
edit the subject line, sorry guys) I said that as I couldn't
be sure I had access to a node-set() function, I couldn't see
how to use the variable/rtf approach he suggested.
