The values of the root, of the <hey>, <this> and <is> elements are all the
same: "nuts". So .=/ tests true for all these cases.
This is true if we strip the whitespace from the source (which I'm in the
habit of doing when I know it's safe), not if otherwise....
OTOH, for
<hey><this><is>nuts</is></this></hey>
... the values really *are* the same ...
