I intend to use XSL-FO to generate potentially tens of thousands of pages
in PDF format. Not necessarily all in one go, probably a couple of hundred
at a time. I am testing all my scripts using FOP which I have noted is
rather slow.
XSL Formatter 3.0 claims to be optimized for speed and to be quite
faster than XSL Formatter 2.x. It seemed to be so in the few tests I
ran, but I didn't put it head to head against XEP. Unfortunatly, XSL
Formatter 3.0 still lacks a few key features, so it may not be usable
for all FO applications.
Advent's 3B2 formatter is very fast, so I would expect their FO
implementation to be fast as well (depending on how they've implemented
the mapping from FO constructs to the 3B2 typesetting language, but I
haven't had a chance to test it yet.
