Following two templates generates the same results:

<xsl:template match="link//llnode" mode="yyy">
<xsl:for-each select="*">
so this is iterating over all elements (of any name) that have a parent
llnode and an ancestor link
<xsl:template match="link" mode="yyy">
<xsl:for-each select="*//llnode">
this is iterating over all elements with name llnode that are
descendents, but not children, of a link element.
It is no doubt possible to find a document where these select the same
sets of nodes, but in general they will be very different.
