variable attribute

Hi All,

	Is there a way to select an element via a variable attribute and 
compare the value of that variable attribute to a string?
What I'm looking for would kind of look like the code below (if it was 
legal to use an ATV for attribute names).
/a/*[(_at_){$attrName} = 'someString']
