Re: how can this be done in a declarative way?

2004-05-07 07:38:23

  i want to add the following to docbook.xsl/chunk:

  for each section that has a ID (in fact this is every section in my
  special case) i want to put the IDs and the files the sections will go to
into a file.

  ThisIsAnID=ThisOneOfTheChunks.html
  ThisIsAnotherID=ThisOneOfTheChunksToo.html
  (...)

  i understand, that i cant append data to variables or files when i program
declarative.
  but i dont see a way how to solve this problem without updateing variables ...

You just need to override the top level template for "/" to make a
second pass to make your index file,

so
<xsl:template match="/">
 <xsl:apply-imports/>... whatever Norm was doing previously ..
 <saxon:output (or equivalent docbook template that works on multiple
processors) href="whatever">
 <xsl:for-each select="//section[(_at_)id]">
<xsl:value-of select="@id"/>=<xsl:call-template
  name="whatever templategenerates your filename for this chunk"/>

...
