RE: apply-template doesn't hit template

Well,
An easier approach is to have a good XSLT tool .. That wont let you write
wrong code at the first instance.. This is always a better approach.. I have
seen many XSLT developers who fancy coding using notepad , textpad for some
of their own known reasons.. While this may be ok to get a grip of the
language syntax, you are more unlikely to make Syntax mistakes with a good
tool. It is quite annoying sometimes to see basic syntax errors in the
processor's error list :-)

I've found one of the biggest advantages of Saxon is its
ability to report errors that are easy to 'see'/interpret.
It saves a lot of work.

But it shouldn't have needed eyes at all, any reasonable
xslt system ought to have reported error on line ....
illegal select attribute on xsl:template or some such error
and stopped and produced no output.

Did your system silently accept that and then produce bad output?
