What about using Javascript?
I am rendering an html textbox client-side, and if I hardcode the date
this
works..
<xsl:variable
name="mydate"><attribute><value>10thSep</value></attribute></xsl:variable>

But I need something like ...
<xsl:variable name="t" select="javascript:Date()"/>
<xsl:variable
name="mydate"><attribute><value>{$t}</value></attribute></xsl:variable>

But this is dying cos I haven't declared the javasvcript namespace but
I don't think xalan supports this does it? Or is it the browser that
needs to support it?

declare a date param in your stylesheet and pass a parameter
date=`date`
in on the command line or equivalent API call.
