Perhaps $xsd-match-node is not the xs:element element, but a document node
that's the parent of the xs:element element. Certainly if this were the case
it would explain your output.

In my xsl I have this fragment. In the ouput the second line does not

- <NODE xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<xs:element name="company" type="xs:string" minOccurs="1" />
</NODE>
<MIN xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" />
