Thank you everyone who helped me out.
After spending a few hours today banging my head against the wall I am
finally able to read in a non-xml document and transform it into a
beautifully well-formed xml document.
I don't think it's appropriate for me paste all my code here, but if anyone
is interested in how to transpose an EDI file into an XML document please
feel free to contact me.
