I do not manage to use the element <xsl:element> as I wish it.
I would like to use the value of an attribute to create the
name of my new element.
(for instance to convert <item class="classe1"/> into
<classe1>...</classe1>)
I am using it like that :
< xsl:element name="{./@name}">... </xsl:element>
Perhaps you want
<xsl:element name="{./@class}">... </xsl:element>
Apart from that it looks OK (unless namespaces are involved).
Of course ./@class can be simplified to @class
