If you use output method="html" this behaviour is correct. The syntax for

Mmm, ok, well I guess I could use XHTML and use the XML method. But if
I do that I get errors about '<' and '>' in the processing instructions.
So how can I transform XML with PHP in it?

If I run xsltproc from libxslt-1.1.11 on some xml w/ processing
instructions in it, the closing '?' gets removed. Is this legit or am
I missing something?
