Can I improve it?

<a>
  <xsl:attribute name="href">
    <xsl:value-of select="@url" />
  </xsl:attribute>

could be written as

<a href="{(_at_)url}">  

But that probably makes no real difference (it probably produces more or
less the same code at run time (I wouldn't know:-) but it's less to
type.
