Actually, the XSLT 1.0 specification allows you to say version="2.0", and
specifies exactly (well, almost exactly) how an XSLT 1.0 processor should
behave if you do: see the section on "forwards compatible behavior"). It was
a forwards-thinking provision designed to make it easier to write
stylesheets that work on different XSLT versions.
