It may very well be that we are in a hurry, is it possible to
summarise why
datatyping a variable is so useful?
It helps the reader of the stylesheet to understand what the purpose of the
variable is, and it gives you earier and better diagnostics for many
programming mistakes.
Occasionally it also helps the compiler to generate better code.
