RE: [xsl] XSL-FO positioning inlines and blocks

2006-11-13 13:09:03
When I wrote this message, "Walter", "Pacific", "2984", and "Los" all lined up
vertically. That's what I'm trying to achieve.

Subject: [xsl] XSL-FO positioning inlines and blocks

If I were preparing a web page to display information as below, I would know
how to use div's and span's along with CSS properties to have them appear where
I wanted them on the page and in relation to one another.

I've been trying to refresh my memory on XSL-FO today in order to achieve a
similar effect. I had always thought of fo:block as analogout to div and
fo:inline as analogous to span, but I see that while I can use the same
attributes and child elements with either of the HTML objects, it seems that
XSL-FO has distinctly different ideas on what is a proper attribute or child
for the two types of fo objects.

Can someone tell me what technique to use to achieve a layout like this one?

Thanks.
