I was able to transform one XSL file (source) to another

really? Why do you want to transform an XSLT file? Or do you mean that you
tried to transform an XML file into another XML file using an XSLT file?
ehrm, upon rereading, this sounds quite awkward... I just meant to stress that
most of the time you'll find people having input as XML. Now, XSLT itself *is*
XML, so that can, of course, be used as input and there are certainly use
cases for which this is desirable.
