Hi David,

Thanks for the response. That was indeed the problem.

Interestingly adding <xsl:preserve-space elements="name"/> at the top
of the stylesheet did not work. However adding xml:space="preserve" to
the <char> element did.

contains a newline not a space, that may have been your mailer, but even
if there is a space in the source they are ignored in a stylesheet by
default, so use xsl:preserve-space elements="name"/.
