It should not delete any kind of data if it is 
not matching exactly.

The code you posted is an xsl syntax error, you can't have <au> as a
child of xsl:analyze-string, so presumably it didn't make the output
that you posted.

If you have both <xsl:matching-substring> and
<xsl:non-matching-substring> (your posted code only had one of these)
Then you will never lose any input  data, you just need to say what you
want to happen in each case. I can't suggest code as you haven't said
what result you want.
