I've found a workaround for this issue by wrapping the
current-group() in a <group/>-element, but I was wondering if
someone can provide a more straight-forward solution.
That's the correct workaround. One of the reasons that XDM doesn't offer
"sequences of sequences" in its repertoire of data types is that it was felt
that in an XML-based environment, the right way to represent a tree
structure was using XML elements.
