(one I find myself using often these days) is to bypass the
select="'...'" attribute entirely, and simply use the contents of the
<xsl:with-param> as the string-value: 

Note though that you pay a price doing that, that constructs a document
node with a text node child with string value the string you want, which
is more expensive to create and more expensive to use than a string,
and potentially prevents the system doing some optimisations that it
could have done if the param was string valued.
