Actually you have another alternative, that doesn't require reading the
source file as text or using a non standard parser of just always
writing a fixed doctype SYSTEM id and then create the file referenced
by that SYSTEM id by doing a second pass through the document in an
xsl:result-document  that just finds each attruibute value of type
ENTITY and looks up the unparsed-entity-uri() for that entity and so
recreates an equivalent entity definition.
XDM does not store the entity declaration, but for NDATA references the
entity reference is stored, with enough information to generate an
equivalent reference
