The contrapositive of this is "if you don't know enough to diagnose
and fix this problem without a tool's help, you probably also don't
know how to control the switches and settings for your tools."
Many modern software products solve this usability dilemma by producing
the warning, together with information on how to switch it off.
Of course, that approach can't be used as an excuse for bombarding the
user with irrelevant information - but in cases of doubt, it can help.
The other approach which is possible in an IDE is to make warnings very
unobtrusive - just an amber marker in the right hand margin of the code
listing, with hover text.
