Re: [xsl] XSLT 2013 survey

answering your question directly, as folks getting the wrong idea;

its common in polling to have 2 different versions of what apparantly
are the same question ...

Q1 and Q2 may look similar but they are different e.g. Q1 answer to
each is independent of any XSLT versions whereas Q2 is normalized
across all version options. In Q2 the person is making a value
judgement weighted across all options.

It is true (as MKay) says that ppl can get confused by questions that
are anything more complicated then multiple single choice; as in Q2
... this type of question always has a higher error range associated
with it so its less useful ... but I doubt we will get a large enough
sample size where such concerns kick in.

These poll questions seem a little strange to me -

How are Q1 and Q2 different?

Q5 seems to mix up Operating Systems and programming languages. Surely
if you are going to have Linux and MacOSX, then you also need Windows
and Solaris. Also perhaps better to separate language and OS. The
language question may be irrelavant to some, as may the OS question.

Oh dear. My response to almost any survey is to say "you're asking the wrong
questions".

"Please rank the importance of each xslt version".

You need to ask people how important it is to them or their employers, not
how important they think it is to the world in general. Otherwise they are
guessing the information you are trying to discover.

You need to explain what you mean by "importance": it's about what the
impact/value is, or is likely to be, on some timescale. What timescale?

And you need to distinguish "It is important to me that this technology
should be available" from "I don't think this technology will have much
effect on us because I don't think it will be available on the timescale in
which we need it".
