It seems that the docbook1 stylesheets rely on the XSLT processor
supporting one of saxon:output, exsl:document, or (xalan) redirect:write.
Seems a shame that this should still be the case in 2013 - I don't know
if the XSLT 2.0 version of docbook has advanced. Meanwhile it would be
very easy to write an overlay for the templates in chunker.xsl that work
with xsl:result-document if available. You can probably just take the
module as written and replace "saxon:output" by "xsl:result-document".
