You will note the post you responded did not use the word intuitive.
It used the word Note I used the words non-intuitive, arcane and
quirky.
Anyway in my role as an imaginary XSLT antagonist I would first show
them my proverbial hello world - (trip them up with text()) and then
I'd follow up with your post.

If everything was so intuitive, then the various W3C working groups
wouldn't be working for years to design a language.
Also, the concept of "intuitive" cannot be objectively defined. What
is "intuitive" for one person often isn't "intuitive" at all for other
people.
I believe that intuition is the result of practice and needs some
level of initial basic understanding.
Take a first-grader or take a baby. What is intuitive to them? They
have to grow and learn, then their intuition will also grow.
If somebody complains that basic concepts are not "intuitive", this is
indicative of not having spent enough time (or any time at all) trying
to learn and understand the foundations of the system that defines
these concepts.
So, the proper advice for coping with the "non-intuitive" problem is:
Do your homework, read, study and practice.
For good or for bad, knowledge cannot be simply downloaded into one's
head while this person is sleeping or engaged with other activities,
or against the will of this person.
