I agree with the part of Jeni's post that you quoted. But I do not
think it is accurate to say
"The xsl:apply-templates itself doesn't change the context in which
something is evaluated."
The select attribute of the xsl:apply-templates instruction does
determine the context in which a node will be evaluated (...once it
hits the template it matches).
