Whilst "Give us back our 11 days" was a lost cause, there was no way that the 
'Revenue' were going to be allowed to benefit - hence the shift in the tax year.

Actually Lady Day (25th March), which in the Gregorian calendar is 6th April, 
which even today is the start of the UK tax year.
