Many thanks for your input. Your XSLT 3.0 solution worked very well. It took me
a little while to work out due to a wee typo in line 4: changed @previous to
$previous.
Not even close to mastering XSLT 2.0 but this leads nicely into learning more
about about XSLT 3.0.
