Early Career Participation in Balisage
In order to encourage early-career participation in "Balisage: The Markup
Conference", the Conference Committee announces 2 cost-reduction options for
information professionals with less than 5 years' experience working with
markup or marked-up documents.

Early Career Discount Registration
Early Career Markup Professionals are eligible to register for "Balisage: The
Markup Conference" and the pre-conference symposium on "The Role of XML in
Publishing Accessible Documents" for the discounted fee of $600
Early Career Speaker - Free Registration
Early Career Markup Professionals who speak at the conference or symposium will
get free registration. Details:
Early Career papers must follow all regular submission guidelines, and will be
peer reviewed and evaluated for inclusion in the conference with all other
submissions (and without any special consideration)
The speaker must provide a paper for the Balisage proceedings
The speaker must attend the entire event
The speaker must present the paper and discuss audience questions/reactions as
would any other speaker at Balisage or the symposium
The conference will waive registration fees for early career speakers but will
provide no additional funding or support
Submissions to Balisage and the symposium on XML and Accessible Documents are
due in one month (April 3). See the Instructions for Authors at:
