I'm looking at developing a Web Accessibility course for XML people and
publishing people.
Are you interested?
Attendees should have some basic HTML and CSS knowledge; topics will
(probably) include -
* short intro with talking points for why accessibility matters, and
universal access
* the Web by keyboard - what to do when you can't mouse, and what Web
authors have to do to make this work well
* Making the audible Web - avoiding the interminable with semantic
markup, skip links and CSS Grid
* Considerations for Collaborative Pages - similar experiences for
distributed folks
* Responsive Hamburgers - every person, every place, every device
* Markup for accesibility - what to do differently in your XML source
documents, where needed
* colours, sizes, optical illusions, people have different eyes
* images, pictures, figures & captions
* JavaScript and ARIA and principles to do and not do
* typefaces, and sites that work with Web fonts disabled, images
disabled, JS disabled
* main sites for resources, and how to read the specs
* Appendix - the crazy jargon so you can search effectively
Feel free to reply directly.
Other upcoming courses -
* XSLT two to three in December (room for two more people i think)
* XSLT one booster - for people using XSLT 1 who want to move to XSLT 2
or 3, this gives an overview of new features and new ways of working;
half day
* Schematron : testing the water (in development)
* Under the Hood: How the Web Works (half day, with extended QA)
* CSS for XML People (two days - see
https://www.delightfulcomputing.com/
for more details)
