I'm not sure of one thing: by "the word `subject'" did Ken mean *only* the
word "subject" and nothing more, or any string containing the word "subject"?

If the former,

  * ^Subject:[  ]*(subject)?[   ]*$

If the latter,

  * ^Subject:((.*\<)?subject\>|[        ]*$)

Each pair of brackets encloses a space and a tab.
