Fixing up dates

2001-10-15 01:04:03
Every so ofternI receive email from one person where the Date: header is
mangled. Actually they don't appear to have included a date at all but
their ISP has inserted a warning message there instead. So I'd like to fix
this up using the closet possible date/time to the moment when the message
was sent.

What I'd like to do is grab the date/time stamp on the Received: line that
corresponds to the injection of the message into the 'net. Examing the
headers of a few of his messages shows that there are at least 8 such
lines in the header. How can I be sure to pick the correct one? And, of
course, even then I have to extract the date information.

As it's only one specific user I can filter their message so that this
date/time receipe only cooks their postings.

Ideas of how to proceed?

Regards, Trevor
