Sorry for the typo. But using 192.168.0.0/16 is considered perfectly reasonable as well... There's a lot of historical precedent, indeed. And in reality, addresses from 192.0.2.0/24 are used to distribute null routes over routing protocols which don't support them natively. Oh well, what a mess.
