AUTH command

The POP server I get my mail from seems to be having problems with the
AUTH command. When fetchmail sends this command, the server returns
'unimplemented'. This may be related to a problem I have sometimes, which
I will demonstrate here:

> telnet mailserver pop3
> user myname
> pass mypass
You have mail, yadda yadda yadda


> telnet mailserver pop3
> user myname
> auth
ERR unimplemented
> pass mypass
Invalid user/pass, yadda yadda yadda

Any ideas?
