[fetchmail]Is IDLE still flaky?

The man page warns:

The RFC 2177 IDLE support is flaky.  It sort of works, but may generate
spurious socket error messages or silently hang in the presence of
various network or server errors.

Can anyone using IDLE report on whether this is still true?
