Short one: fetchmail exits with an "Authorization failure on ...",
"Query status=3 (AUTHFAIL)" from two different servers, one using both
POP3 and IMAP.
Long one:
"Oh my, one of the most stable and reliable piece of software of my
system stopped to work. Now I have only Emacs and TeX to believe in."
Debian Woody with some Sid and some Ximian GNOME.
fetchmail 5.7.5-1 .deb
exim (was masqmail)
This is fetchmail release 5.7.5+NTLM+SDPS+NLS
Linux popocatepetl 2.2.18-ide #1 Thu Dec 21 22:31:30 EST 2000 i686 unknown
My hand-made .fetchmail --but the problems are the same using a
fetchmailconf generated file:
poll "SERVER" with protocol AUTO
user "USER", with password "PW", is "giovanni" here
I have 7 mailbox on 5 different servers.
fetchmail started to give me some problems on "tiscalinet.it".

User and Password are right, Mozilla and Balsa can get the mail just fine.
Now also "libero.it" stopped to work. Not every time, just half the time.

Yes, also in this case login/password are correct; Mozilla (for example)
works.
I have no control over these servers (they serve two of the 3 biggest
ISPs in Italy), but I can give you more information if you need it. And
I can phone and write if their CRAM-MD5 is bogus...
Thanks,
(so lazy to hope that the solution is just "wait and apt-get")
