I am using fetchmail 5.9.6 (and before that, 5.9.5) and three times
(twice with 5.9.5 and once now with 5.9.6) I have experienced
fetchmail suddenly start appending
's (^M's, newlines) to each line
of my incoming messages. It took me a while to confirm that it wasn't
something I did to my .procmailrc, etc, and verify that fetchmail is
the culprit. I backed out to a 5.7 version of fetchmail and the
problem stopped.
Basically, a running fetchmail (in daemon mode) will start appending
^M's to each line (headers and body) of my mail. Needless to say,
this is a pain as my MUA (Gnus) can't parse it properly (it looks like
a message with just one header line and zero body lines).
I do have two entries in my .fetchmailrc - one for my old ISP (but my
primary mailbox) and one for my primary ISP (my DSL provider),
Earthlink. I rarely get mail via my Earthlink address, but it is
possible that somehow that is the trigger. I will attempt to verify
this if it happens again.
I know of one other person who has also experienced this. I hope this
helps in case others have too, and let me know if I can do anything to
help narrow this down.
Thanks, Eric
