This is more a preemptive patch than anything. I have not bothered to verify
if this stuff is exploitable (but if it is, it requires an hostile server).
It is also untested. I don't have access to an ESMTP auth capable server
right now.
Jakob, please apply and tell me if your segfault went away (my guess is no).
If you could produce a core file and get a backtrace from that using gdb, it
would probably be a snap to fix the segfault you found.
