Re: [fetchmail]bounced mails....

2002-06-11 02:13:41
thanks for your hints regarding the change management :-)

I reverted to 5.9.0 before I posted here, but that didn't help...
Last night I decided to log fetchmails activity, maybe this helps for more precise suggestions... ?

Why does fetchmail send a mail to me ?

Hi there...!

After upgrading from 5.9.0 to 5.9.6 (sendmail from 8.12.1 to 8.12.2) and switching from SpamBouncer to SpamAssassin I'm getting some bounced mails from time to time... I'm using the same scripts for fetchmail and sendmail as before the upgrade...

I set spambounce to off in .fetchmailrc but that didn't help...

any ideas ?

First idea is that you really should only make one change at a time :-) Changing the version of fetchmail and sendmail AND changing your anti-spam program all at once makes identifying problems difficult.

If you can, revert to the older versions of fetchmail and sendmail. Then if/when SpamAssassin proves not to be the problem, upgrade fetchmail (5.9.12 last time I checked) then finally sendmail (8.12.4 as of a few days ago). That gives you a chance to identify the source of your bounces.

You've not updated your sendmail.cf to the latest version. You really should do that when you upgrade sendmail.

Assuming that's a message from your mail server, looks like you've a problem talking to your mail server. Maybe your mail logs give details?

Please don't CC me on anything sent to mailing lists or send
me email directly unless it's a privacy issue, thanks.
