We are currently running fetchmail 5.9.0-1 with Exim over a DSL connection.
We use it to multi-drop about 30 mailboxes pulling from a shared POP3 box
and it works wonderfully except for one thing:
I run fetchmail using a cron job every 5 minutes. This works great except
when emails have large attachments (we tend to have large attachments
frequently because customers send CAD files). When fetchmail is fetching
large emails during one poll and it takes longer than 5 minutes, the second
poll seems to "interrupt" and fetchmail doesn't run properly after that.
Meanwhile, the mailbox at our ISP continues to collect and users can only
receive in-house emails.
The "fix" I've been using is to make the cron job inactive and manually run
fetchmail. It downloads all of the messages fine when I do it manually
including the large emails. Then I make the cron job active again.
This happens up to 3 times a day and I often have to "fix" it from home at
night. I've looked everywhere for a solution to this problem to no avail.
If anyone could tell me the solution or point me to it, I'd greatly
appreciate it because the boss is getting impatient. I don't want him to
regret us switching from Windows to Linux!
