Jonathan Buschmann <Jonathan(_dot_)Buschmann(_at_)ericsson(_dot_)com>:
I verified by looking at syslog (numer of body octets fetchmail sees)
that fetchmail fetches the message without the attachment (that is, it's
not that it gets lost later by sendmail or my reader).
Exchange is broken. (Yeah, like that's breaking news.)
Fetchmail doesn't discard attachments; fetchmail doesn't have any idea
the attachment is there. Fetchmail treats the body of each message as
an uninterpreted byte stream and passes it through without alteration.
If you are not receiving attachments through fetchmail, it is because
your mailserver is not sending them to you.
Replace your mailserver with one that works.
