I can't speak about Red Hat specifically, but it's quite common for
distributors to apply security patches to old versions of programs
rather than upgrading fully to the newer version. They then save the
full upgrade for a later version of their distribution.
So if you're concerned about security issues, you should check Red Hat
venues to see if their version of fetchmail is up to date.
