If postfix can't get a DNS lookup it will return an error code. In most
cases, if it is a temporary error (4xx) fetchmail will not flush the mail.
After all, if it is not a permanent error (5xx) you don't want trash the
mail.
Check /var/log/mail/warnings and see if there is a complaint there that
/etc/hosts or resolv.conf don't match /var/spool/postfix/etc/hosts... or
something similar.
It might be a postfix or a DNS issue. Fetchmail seems to be behaving as
specified in man fetchmail.
