Hello,
I'm using fetchmail 6.2.0 on a RH 7.3 Linux (not the RH distribution)
system and have been noticing entries in my maillog that indicate
"incorrect header line found while scanning headers." These messages
are left on the server in spite of the -fetchall option specification.
I find that I have to log directly into the mail server with Outlook or
some other MUA in order to retrieve the messages from the server.
Fetchmail retrieves typically about 1000 messages per day from the same
server and perhaps 50 of these show this error.
I have a second server running fetchmail but this one is running the RH
distributed version Fetchmail 5.9.0-21.7.3 (RH usess their own version
numbers as they patched the base 5.9.0 release) which does not show
this symptom.
Below are two messages that triggered the incorrect header error
message and the output from 'fetchmail -V' on the system that shows the
error.
Reviewing messages in the archives I see that over the past two months
at least a couple of others have also found this to be a problem. So
far, though, I haven't seen any resolution. Is there something I can
supply to the list that would help to determine what it is about these
messages that are triggering the maillog entry?
Regards, Mike Klinke
