Standing comment - this is an old version.  Please upgrade to the latest 
version and see if it still has the same problem.
When the system runs low on storage space, I get errors like

Quite simply this is a postfix problem (maybe you need to update that too?). 
 Postfix is telling fetchmail that all is well when it isn't.
